Immersive Portals Mod | See-Through Portals
Immersive Portals Mod for Minecraft turns Nether portals into see-through windows you walk through with no loading screen, plus mirrors and wrapped worlds.
The Immersive Portals Mod rewrites how Minecraft handles portals. Instead of a purple wall and a loading screen, you get a live window into the destination you can step straight through. Created by qouteall and built around see-through rendering and seamless teleportation, this portal mod also folds space into non-Euclidean shapes, adds mirrors, and lets you wrap worlds so edges loop back on themselves.
What the Immersive Portals Mod Actually Changes
Standard Minecraft unloads one dimension before it loads the next, which is why every portal trip pauses on a loading screen. This mod lets the client load multiple dimensions at once and sync remote blocks and entities in real time. The result is a portal you can genuinely look through, walk into without a pause, and even nest inside one another.
Portals can also transform your scale and gravity direction. A doorway can shrink you, flip you upside down, or rotate the world around you, which opens up puzzles and builds that vanilla Minecraft simply cannot do.

Because the destination renders ahead of time, you can scout a Nether fortress or End island before committing to the trip. That alone makes exploration safer and a lot more cinematic.
Enhanced End Portals and Scaling Windows
The mod introduces four configurable End portal behaviors that change how you arrive in the End.

- Normal points the portal at the main End island.
- ObsidianPlatform drops you at the obsidian platform.
- ScaledView frames the whole End island as an overview.
- Vanilla leaves the default End portal untouched.
World Wrapping, Mirrors, and Dimension Stacking
Three of the most creative tools here come from space-folding commands.
Inward world wrapping takes a region and replicates it infinitely. Step past the right edge and you reappear on the left, perfect for hallway labyrinths or a Backrooms-style build. Trigger it with /portal global create_inward_wrapping.

Outward world wrapping carves out an isolated pocket of space. Enter from one side and you emerge from the other, which is handy for hidden rooms. Use /portal global create_outward_wrapping to set one up.

Mirrors add a reflective block that bounces the world back at you for optical illusions and trick architecture. On top of these, dimension stacking layers entire dimensions on top of each other, and scale box wrapping lets you resize regions of the world on demand.

How to Install the Immersive Portals Mod
- Install a compatible mod loader first. The main project targets Fabric, so set up Fabric if you have not already. A separate build covers NeoForge and Forge for players on that side of the ecosystem.
- Drop the mod JAR into your
modsfolder, the same workflow covered in our general Minecraft mod install guide. - Launch the game and generate a world. Light a Nether portal and you should see straight through it immediately.
Because the mod changes core rendering, it is not recommended for use with Sinytra Connector. If you rely on OptiFine or shader setups like Iris, test them alongside this mod before committing them to a survival world, since portal rendering touches the same pipeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it work with Sodium and Iris?
Portal rendering is roughly compatible with some versions of Sodium and Iris, but because this mod rewrites underlying Minecraft mechanics, shader and rendering mod compatibility shifts between releases. Check the project page for the current compatibility notes before mixing them.
Can I customize portals beyond the defaults?
Yes. The mod ships a full set of /portal commands plus datapack functionality, so you can link portals, set scale and rotation, and define custom behaviors without writing code.
Is the mod still being updated?
The primary project was last updated in November 2025, with the Forge and NeoForge build maintained separately. Check the project page for the most recent release status before installing.
Does it need any dependencies?
No required dependencies are listed. You only need a supported mod loader and the mod JAR itself to get started.
Will it break my existing world?
The mod changes how dimensions load and render, so always back up your world before adding it to a survival save. Creative and test worlds are the safest place to experiment with wrapping and scaling first.
The mod is deeply customizable and the official wiki documents every command and feature in detail.
